hey 👋 I have just ordered a starlink for at my caravan in scotland and I am wondering what direction the dish needs a clear sky for as behind caravan there is some wooded area so not got a clear sky 360° round it
First "the dish" is not a dish. It is a multiple phased array antenna. It has a lot of elements that are microchip controlled. At any given time, a group of elements are phased with each other to form a narrow beam that tracks a satellite going overhead. The antenna has multiple arrays that track other satellites passing overhead. The antenna stays in a fixed position while the electronics does the rest. As the view of the sky becomes more obstructed, the service drops increase in frequency and duration. Don't expect coverage in a forested campground site.
