Which speed tests work with Starlink? My go-to speed test has been DSL Reports for many years, but it does not have a satellite category and shows error messages in available categories. Thanks
My go-to has always been the speedtest at sonic.net (Sonic is the best ISP if you're in their service area, but we're using Starlink on our farm which is way too rural for anything else). Sonic's speed test has worked well as I've gotten Starlink set up.
Well I guess that says something about Starlink, maybe they need to make a super satellite category:) That was pretty progressive of DSL.reports.com to be catering to the different types of internet delivery, especially seeing that some of these newer speed-tests will cancel out at low speeds. Have you been using the in app test? If so what speeds are you getting from there?
DSLReports.com has offered a suite of internet related tools, including speed tests tailored to various connection methods (dialup, DSL, satellite, etc), which the user can select if desired. (see photo)
Currently, sadly, their technology reports Starlink as having too low Latency for satellite and having too high speed for DSL. So many speed tests are just designed to steer the user to a specific ISP -- DSL Reports never did that.
Hello John, I have never heard of DSL Speedtest so I checked it out, I think the name says it all though”DSL”. There are many you can use, the main one would be Starlink as it’s built right into the app. External testing we use https://www.speedtest.net/ and https://fast.com/

The speedtest in the app works pretty well. I usually use Ookla (speedtest.net) and these two are usually pretty close.
