Starlink to start in December implementing Data Cap on service.

Just got an e-mail today informing that Starlink will be implementing a 1TB data cap for the monthly billing cycle. If you go over it you get bumped down to basic access and slower speeds.

They have been selling the service like crazy so it's not surprising that they would pull this tactic. One of the reasons I got Starlink along with hopefully faster speeds was NO data cap.

The only good news out of this is there is no limit on data useage between the hours of 11pm to 7am for now.

Wonder what restrictions they will be implementing next?

Hi Jeffrey, That’s what I’ve heard as well. Hopefully this will at least level out some of the bandwidth issues that are cropping up globally. A TB is still fairly substantial but not unlimited of course. That’s a good question.. fingers crossed they look out for the customers first.

I recently read that Starlink plans on cutting speeds to all US customers starting in December by 50% !!!!

For people who aren't getting great speeds now this could really be bad news.

This also isn't good for people who use Starlink to stream 4K TV content as it may stall and buffer during evening hours when demand is high.

For Starlink customers who are getting good speeds now (200-300 mbps) this will most likely still work ,ok but the rest of us not so much.

Not that long ago Starlink was touting how speeds would be increasing up to 300 mbps and now they are saying they will be cutting speeds by 50%.

What will they be doing next?
