I received the StarLink dish a little over 2 weeks ago, and have been playing with it since. Speeds continue to be slower than I had expected, at around 20 Mbps during evening hours, and between 50 and 100 Mbps during daytime hours.
I have read suggestions saying to bypass the StarLink router to avoid conflicts when tying into an existing network. Is this more than a DHCP and Nat issue?
Also saw suggestion to add static addresses 192.168.100.1 and 192.168.100.24, so StarLink stats can be accessed.
Any downside to bypassing the StarLink, and letting our Eero routers manage the communications?
Appreciate any insights you can pass on.
Hi Michael,
There seems to be quite a few people complaining about overall slower speed tests with the Starlink system unfortunately. Hopefully that will improve when they have more satellites added into the constellations.
We have bypassed the Starlink router and have had the internet running through a couple of D-Link Wi-Fi 6 mesh routers. That setup has been quite efficient and doesn’t experience to much loss in connectivity or DL and UL speeds. Depending on your residence it can actually improve stability in those dead zones in the house.
Have not played around to much with the static addresses but losing those Starlink stats is one downfall for sure. Other than that I would say it’s worth some testing with your eeros..overall we haven’t found much for negatives with the 1st gen Dishy.
