Your right there are some nice features in Gen 2 like WIFI bridging and smaller Dishy size and weight, but Gen 1 has some perks as well, like direct Dishy attachment with ethernet and extending long runs, seeing as it uses Cat5E cable and not a proprietary cable that Gen 2 has. Either way both systems are good:)
