My original DL speeds were 150 -250 and 2 months later my speeds are never over 35-55 and I have no obstructions at all. Would it be better if I mounted it as high as possible with a pole ? I am presently 8 feet high off the ground.
Well that is good that your not having any problems downloading, but your speeds do seem to be under what was promised. When testing using Ookla it will be equivalent to the Green test in the Starlink app speed test, the Blue test is your true speed to your location. The Blue test rules out connection and device issues that may be effecting the results that Ookla and the Green test do not account for...
Because your not having issues downloading I wouldn't get to caught up in speed tests, the fluctuation with the tests is huge due to the satellites constantly moving. If your having issues with downloading then that is something to delve deeper into. If your speeds are good on the blue test but really low on the Green then this is a WIFI issue(Signals weak inside the home from obstructions or interference) or device issue. Your hardwired connection will also be effected by your NIC card inside your computer, which goes back to it being a device issue. Although I doubt this has anything to do with your situation as you did have better speeds before as you stated. The hardwire connections should be much faster then the WIFI connection as there is no interference(Unlikely) with them. But you do have a switch in place as you said you have 2 devices connected, I would try by-passing the switch and testing the devices directly to make sure there isn't something wrong with the switch if your speeds stay constantly low on the wired devices. Hope this helps!
Hello Gary, If you don't have any obstructions then raising the Dishy won't help, the extra 10-20 even 30ft is very small compared to the 400-500 kilometer distance in-between. If you can answer a few questions for me I'll try to help...
1st or 2nd Gen?
Devices your testing on and proximity to the router?
When is the last time you rebooted the router?
What speed test are you using?
Are you having problems with things downloading?
Give these a quick answer and I'll try to steer you in the right direction.
You are so awesome THANK YOU !!!!
