Hi
I have a Asus home router that I want to use. I understand how to bypass the Starlink router.
My question is, do I need to completely reset my Asus router to accept Starink?
I plan to use Starlink as my main and keep my old DSL connected in the dual input mode ( not sure what it's called).
Any tips on setting this up appreciated
Thanks in advance
On my Asus router, I can create up to three guest wireless networks and assign different passwords there. If done for both 2.4 and 5, that would give you a total of six. I have two extras set on mine, one for guests and the other for my cameras. Anything like my TV Direct TV etc, I use the Guest network for all.
The advantage of the guest network is they allow internet access without access to the main network and linked computers, so I wonder why one would need separate logins for each user.
How can I create different password for different user
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I have a Asus router that is dual wan capable. Perfect, thats the information I needed. As you probably guessed, this is unfamiliar territory for me lol
Appreciated your help
Not a problem, I don’t think I read it correctly. Technically you have to have a dual WAN router if you want to run two ISP (internet service providers) on one router. You should be able to plug your Starlink connection into the WAN port on your ASUS router and it will automatically find the ip address if your router is already set to dynamic (which it will be unless you changed the settings for a static ip). You would have to physically unplug the connection and plug in your DSL connection if the Starlink service went down for any reason (if your router isn’t dual wan - 2 wan ports on the back). All the Wi-Fi (username and password) settings will stay the same on your router unless you have to do a factory reset.
I hope this helps.
Hi Rick,
If I understand correctly what you are asking…you want to have your ASUS router running as a secondary router off of your main Starlink router? If so you will have to disable the DHCP on your main router as this allows the Starlink router to manage your network. Kind of like a Wi-Fi extender but it would be hardwired.
