i am a three week new user of Starlink. This is my issue...my house is 1,050 square feet. My wifi router reading is at 48%. The lowest reading was 42% and the highest was 50%. i use the scanner to walk around the house and the color triangles never change color, they always stay brown. When i do a speed test I always get the message, "Router Location....Consider moving your Starlink router to a more cnetral location in your home. Avoind cabinets, media consoles and closets" I moved the router into the middle of my house and was never more than six steps away from the router and still was at 48%. Do you think the router is faulty? I have contacted support but I kept getting told to move my router. Anyone else have this issue? Thank you, Brian
I have not run into this issue specifically. Personally I would take one of your devices such as a smart phone and run speed tests in a bunch of different locations throughout the home and see if there is a vast difference in your download speeds, upload speeds and ping times (try speedtest.net or download the app instead of the Starlink app test). If the speeds and ping times are similar throughout the home then it may be the scanner that is the issue. Your speeds and scanner % readings should correlate if they are both running properly.
Thank you very much for replying! I will try your suggestion. I have ordered an ethernet connector to start using my router again. I will let you know how things go.
Hello Scott, welcome to the community! The app has changed the button to say 'range' I left a picture below. There is a blog article on this as well that might help.
Hey Lee, thank you for sharing. The app being as new and in beta might not really be to accurate. With your TP S4 set-up to Mesh your network I would think you should be having better results. I don’t know your layout, but even meshing routers can have a hard time getting good throughput. I’m curious when you run a speed test through the Starlink app what your white dial would read…this is the total throughput for your device. If this number is low then it’s signal blockage and if the number is high then it is something set-up in your network. It might be placing you on the 2.4Ghz band which runs at a 3rd the speed, Hope this helps…
thanks Kelly - running Starlink speedtest I get 14 Mbps at the moment and I'm convinced that a blockage due to a thick wall - no way around that as its not my house so I cannot cable it:(
I use a mesh network (TP Link S4's) to extend the network from starlink in my house. which is quite large and has some thick walls in 2 places. Using this scanner it looks lie I've got great signal but in reality I have a huge drop off in speeds - it comes into the main room at +200 Mbps but by the time it gets to my office via mesh I'm lucky to get 40, normally its less!!!!

What a great tool! It is only in BETA so it's a bit glitchy but wow, this is super helpful!
